The Muir Woods Park Community Association (MWPCA), the non-profit neighborhood group celebrated their 90thAnniversary with a Jamboree on Saturday, July 26th from 11 am to 5 pm at their clubhouse at 40 Ridge in Mill Valley.

In 1935, neighbors living on top of Mt Tamalpais banded together to get the County of Marin to pave Panoramic Highway, the main road leading to Stinson Beach and Muir Woods National Park from Mill Valley. Their success led to several initiatives and projects to make life on rural Mt Tam safe and enjoyable that continue today.

In the 1950’s the Club purchased a piece of land and built a clubhouse on a ridge with 360-degree views of the Pacific Ocean, San Francisco, the East Bay and Mt Tam. They host parties, community meetings and a Sunday Café that draws neighbors, hikers and visitors to enjoy the sweeping views on beautiful Mt Tam.

Guests at the Jamboree were encouraged to dress in 1930’s garb, and in addition to tasty BBQ and drink, the Bluegrass Bands Easy Winners and  Lickety Split played tunes, historic photographs and original Mt Tam paintings from California Impressionist Tilden Daken(1876-1935) were on display, kites will be flying, old time cars and a pie making contest were just some of the activities to enjoy for a $10 donation.
